Collaborative Writing

This week, our Grade 1s wrote a story as a group. They started with a prompt sentence from the teacher and develop on that. The process is that the first group member will add a sentence connected or relevant to the beginning sentence. The next students then adds another sentence continuing the one given by the first member. This process continues until they have fulfilled all the elements of the story: Setting, characters, Conflict, Rising Action and Solution.

The learners found it challenging but fun.

"I like doing this because it is easier to come up with interesting ideas when you are in a group." - Koichi

Boat Making

Last Thursday, 2nd of March 2023, Grade 1s and 2s had a simple mini workshop on boat-making. This was conducted by Komine-san and his team.

The boats were made out of recycled materials such as empty pet bottles, plastic bag as improvised sails, string, tape, and others.

The steps were quite challenging. Making the boat required lots of patience, strong focus and great listening skills. One wrong step and the boat will not sail perfectly. 😅

That's why when the Grade 1s completed theirs, they were really happy and proud of their accomplishment. ⭐️

The most fun part is when they tested their boats on the river. They were amazed by how their boats smoothly crossed the river. 🎉🎉🎉
