This week, we explored the following:
1. What is force?
2. How are pull and push the same different?
3. What are the other types of forces?
4. How does force affect an object?
In our exploration, the Grade 1s showed clear understanding that FORCE is push and pull. They showed different examples of activities that show push and pull. They played a board game sorting out activities that require push force and activities that require pull force.
Some questions also arise. some of them are as follows:
* How do airplanes stay in the air without being pulled down by gravity? Do they work well with gravity that's why they don't fall down?
* Why do boats not sink?
* Are there other forces besides gravity?
* Is there a force even if we are resting or sleeping?
* Why do birds and butterflies fly?
As we are going to use research skills as an approach to learning, we started with using printed resources as our first means to get definition of the following words:
Force
Friction
Gravity
Air Resistance
Magnetism
Bouyant
The Grade 1s worked with their partners to look for the meaning of the words during language class. They also used digital resources from the internet o look for the meanings of the words.
